Gracie's BFF

Gracie is finally old enough to start noticing other babies, which is pretty fun since we live with one! She and Mason are starting to have a little playtime together in the mornings and evenings. Mason likes to grab Gracie's feet and apparently she takes it as a foot massage because she gives him some of her coveted smiles! :)

Gracie Smiles!

It seems like we waited forever for our little Gracie girl to smile. She finally gave us her first real smile almost two weeks ago--she smiled up at her daddy while he sang her a good morning song, and it was the cutest thing ever. It made everything seem SO worth it.

It took us until last week to get her smiles on camera. She smiles best early in the morning and at around dusk when her daddy gets home. She is always happy to see him--it's so sweet to see her learning who we are.

Here are some Gracie smiles for you!!!

Birth Announcement Photo Shoot

We finally got around to designing Gracie's birth announcement (even though she was birthed over a month ago!) so Steve did a nice long photo session with her on Sunday. And that means more pictures for you! These did not make the cut for the actual announcement, but they are some of my favorites.

One of Gracie's favorite poses--the "what the heck?" stance.

The blue blur at the bottom is one of those snot-bulb things. I was trying to get her to look at the camera. Steve was laughing this morning that we have a snot-sucker photo for posterity.

Our little bun is really chubbing out now and I LOVE it. It is so cute. This is her side and arm, with lots of nice chubby wrinkles.

Traditional Walton bum shot.

On part of our wedding video you can overhear a conversation between some of the guests, in which they're talking about how we look together. Then they say that because of our big eyes, our babies will have huge eyes, too. Cookie for you, unknown wedding guest:

:)

This is Gracie's favorite sleeping position--spread eagled with her head at this weird angle. We put her in her bed normally and then when we come back she's got her head tipped waaaay back.

Let me know if you'd like to get a birth announcement! We're sending them out soon (I hope).

Chubby Chins

This is my new favorite picture of our Gracie bug, more recently nicknamed Chubby Chins by her daddy--because she has three of them.

In fact, our little bun has been working hard to quell the doctors' initial worries about her weight. She finally surpassed her birth weight two weeks ago, weighing in at 7lb 14oz (2 oz over her birth weight). A week later she weighed 8lb 10oz--meaning she gained almost an entire pound in a week! If you need a point of reference for how much that is, that is like if Steve gained 30 lbs in a week.

And speaking of Gracie's daddy, Steve is currently in North Carolina (Naawth Cah-liiina) for a med school interview, and that means I had my first ever night of single-parenting, though we are staying with my parents so I had emergency backup. It went pretty well considering--Gracie even let me get some sleep.

I'm so proud of Steve & so excited for him, but I miss him terribly. We're not good at being apart, and I feel very homesick for him. Gracie and I owe him some very good cuddles when he gets home.

Bathtime

So Gracie had her first big spit-up last night--all over her pillow, her clothes, and her mommy. So Steve gave her a bath, and for the first time she really enjoyed it--no crying or anything. Way more fun to bathe her when she actually enjoys it! :)

So here's our little bathing beauty for you:
